On 30 July 2025, the SAIChE Western Cape branch hosted Prof. Dyllon Randall, his presentation entitled: 
"Toward Circular Sanitation Systems: Engineering Novel Urine Recycling Systems".
It was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The next hybrid meeting to be held by the branch will be the AGM on 10 September 2025 at 18h00.

There are two main items on the Agenda of the AGM i.e.

• Nomination of the Branch Committee
• Presentation by our Guest Speaker Prof Lidia Auret from Stone Three

Western Cape members are invited to submit nominations for the Branch Committee. To do so please consider who you wish to nominate as a possible Committee member and use the Nomination form (email This email address is being protected from spambots. Please note that your candidate needs to be a paid-up member of SAIChE and must sign the nomination form to indicate their willingness to serve on the Committee.
In the event that a ballot is required, the abbreviated CV required on the Nomination form will become important – please do not leave this out.
Note that completed Nomination forms need to reach the SAIChE Office no later than 27 August 2025.

About our speaker

Lidia Auret is a senior process data scientist (research and training focus) at Stone Three and holds extraordinary/honorary associate professorships at the Departments of Chemical Engineering at Stellenbosch University and the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She served as senior lecturer at Stellenbosch University from 2012 to 2018. From 2019, she served various roles at Stone Three, including manager for the process monitoring business unit. Her research interests include data analytics, machine learning for process monitoring and control in industrial processes. Lidia has authored 40 peer-reviewed publications and supervised 3 PhD and 24 Masters students. She is a member of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and an executive committee member of the South African Council for Automation and Control.  

There will be a post presentation networking opportunity everyone attending the presentation in person is welcome to stay for.
