Engineers are responsible to meet all legal and regulatory requirements in the execution of their engineering work to ensure safety and prevent harm.

This course aims to provide an overview of the main regulations engineers in South Africa need to comply with and ensure that engineers are up to date with the latest requirements. The course will also enable engineers to avoid legal liability issues that could lead to reputational or financial damage.

  • Different types of Liability an engineer can carry
  • Basic principles of the different acts including OHS Act, Engineering Profession Act, and National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act
  • Contracting Principles
  • Overall limitation of liability
  • IP principles
  • Understanding Environmental Law requirements
  • Understanding PER and SANS 347 requirements
